Umpires forum Tuesday 16th April
12 Apr by Andrew Crowley
Hockey Geelong are running an umpires preseason briefing next Tuesday the 16th of April from 6.30pm-7.30pm.
Umpiring is a great way to earn additional more during the season.
Torquay needs more umpires in 2024 as we are entering in additional teams, so we encourage new umpires to attend.
Hockey Geelong will be running through a few key issues picked up from last season as well as some expectations pre and post game. We strongly encourage all umpires and coaches to attend, as this will be how we will set our standards for the year.
Following the briefing Hockey Geelong will be helping run through the foundation support course (community) for those of you who have not yet done it. It is a free course that takes no longer than 60 minutes to complete. We will help support you if you have issues getting to the course or with any questions.
It is an expectation that anyone who is planning on umpiring in Geelong this year, has completed this course prior to their first game. Therefore we highly recommend for those that have not done the course to stay and complete it.
If anyone is looking at developing further and wished to move onto the foundation lead (level 1) course, they are more than welcome to do this at the same time as it’s mostly just an extended version of the first course. This course does however come with a $60 payment and once completed you will need to be signed off by an official on a couple of games.
