Victorian State Government's announcement for new hockey facilities in Torquay

22 May by Andrew Crowley

Torquay Tornadoes Hockey Club are thrilled with the Victorian State Government’s announcement for new hockey facilities to be delivered at Torquay’s Banyul-Warri Fields – the home of the Torquay Tornadoes which will include a new hockey pitch with lighting, scoreboard and spectator seating.

We would like to thank the Surf Coast Shire for their leadership on this project. Chief Executive Officer Robyn Seymour and Mayor Liz Pattison attended the announcement, and Surf Coast Shire’s support for hockey facilities in Torquay has been instrumental in the project becoming a reality.

It has been a long-term dream for our community to play hockey locally on the Surf Coast. The announcement of a new hockey facility at Banyul-Warri Fields will enable hockey to grow in the Surf Coast and the region. We look forward to our players, kids and families being able to train and play locally.

Thanks also to Hockey Victoria in particular Andrew Skillern, Hockey Australia and Hockey Geelong for advocating for the project.
